Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Episode #36
Feelings that Cross Time
Ashura sits crying for her love whom she just killed as the recently freed feather hovers aboe them. It had been in Yasha's body all along!
Back on the ground, Sakura had sensed something wrong and has ot Mokona to lead her to where the ruins are so she can join Syaoran on the sky palace. They find the ruins and are instantly next to Syaoran as soon as they stand in the centre.
Ashura, still clearly upset calls both Sakura and Syaoran over to her where she explains that the Yasha she just killed was not the real one. Apparently when Yasha came to visit Ashura, it was his spirit who had come to say farewell afterhe had died from an illness, but then the feather arrived and somehow made an artificial Yasha.
Ashura summons the hovering feather to herself and gives it to Sakura who returns it to her body. She then tells Syaoran that if he ever gives up, everything will end. He's shocked to hear this as he's not sure what she's talking about.
He doesn't get a chance to ask her though as Ashura quickly stands up and claims the sky palace as her own in an attempt to get her wish granted; for Yasha to be returned to life. However her wish is impossible as Syaoran explains to her. Even gods can't bring people back from the dead. Because of the impossible wish, the palace begins to crumble with Ashura still on it. Kurogane and Fay, riding a horse creature save Syaoran, Sakura and Mokona and they all teleport back to the ground.
Back on the crumbling palace, Ashura begins to talk to Yuko and requests one more wish, for her and Yasha to be turned into gods as a message to the people that even gods cannot bring people back from the dead. Yuko agrees to this but says that the price will be high. Ashura accepts.
Meanwhile on the ground, Kumaraten looks on as his king is apparently killed as the sky palace is destroyed. There's no time to morn though as Mokona has powered up and begins to take Fay, Kurogane, Syaoran and Sakura to the next world. As they're leaving, Syaoran requests that they bury Ashura and Yasha's bodies together no matter what. Kumaraten hesitates but agrees.
The next world doesn't appear to be a new world at all. They've all returned to Shara! They all take this opportunity to discuss what just happened. Fay and Kurogane explain that they were themselves the whole time but couldn't talk to Syaoran and Sakura out of fear of Yasha destroying them. When asked about their eyes, it appears that the loonger they stayed in Yasha's country the darker their eyes got.
While they're walking around they come across both sides of the world who had previously been in conflict but are now, strangely, on very friendly terms and even flirting with each other! Karen, who was with one of the groups invites the gang to a wedding (where they're all going).
When they all arrive at the temple, they're suprised to see that the two people getting married are Suzuran and Souseki who both seem very happy. At another part of the temple a statue is being revealed, a cleaned up statue of two people, Ashura and Yasha! Syaoran theorises that Shura country was the past of Shara country and their actions in Shura have changed Shara! He recalls what he said to Kumaraten before they left and thinks that that could be the reason for both sides being at peace in the present.
Suddenly, Mokona opens his mouth and sucks the two swords that belonged to the two gods right out of the statue and into his mouth to Yuko! Everyone is quite suprised but don't have time to react much further as Mokona powers up once more and transports everyone to the next world.
Back in our world, Yuko views her payment for making two gods while Fei Wang Reed laments on how much power Yuko has. Not only can she move to different dimensions but she can also travel through time! Seems Yuko is the only person who can stop his plans so he begins to put his next plan into motion.
My Original Impression
Saturday, July 01, 2006
Wow, I was very happy to see this episode. It just felt so much like the manga! There was a lot of Yuko this time around and we got to see her from her perspective for the first time since Episode 2 (I think). Well drawn and loved her house in the background.
The overall arc was finished up nicely, though I kind of lost interest in the first world after the epic battles on the sky palace.
Four episodes for this one arc! Way to go Bee Train! Perfect pacing!
Next week is another original episode (YEAH!!!) featuring Princess Emerald from Magic Knight Rayearth!
Today's Crossovers
Yuko: While Yuko cameos for the usual item trading this whole episode directly crosses over with Episodes 22 & 23 of the xxxHolic anime series which kind of shows Yuko and the black Mokona, Larg turning Ashura and Yasha into gods, albiet offscreen.
Ashura: Straight from CLAMP's first manga series, RG Vega, Ashura (not to be confused with Ahura Ou) makes her Tsubasa Chronicle debut right here!
Yasha: Also from RG Vega comes Yasha. Great to see some more characters from CLAMP's first series.
Kumaraten: Another RG Vega rocks on by! Quite a large role too but not as interesting as the two main guys above.
Karen: A prostitute in CLAMP's famous X/1999, Karen has moved up in the world an is now the star attraction in Suzuran's performers group.
Interesting that she has the power of fire in Tsubasa too.
