Tokyo Revelations Closing

The Last Fruit (Saigo no Kajitsu)

Having a long time relationship with CLAMP's animes as well as singing the closing theme songs for Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle's first two seasons, Loop and Kazemachi Jet, Maya Sakamoto returns to sing the closing theme for the OAV Tokyo Revelations entitled, Saigo no Kajitsu which translates as "The Last Fruit".

The song is absolutely stunning and complements the visuals on screen perfectly which, like the rest of the OAV were animated by Production I.G. In it Syaoran, Sakura, Kurogane and Faye are seen exiting Tokyo wearing the same clothes that CLAMP drew them in for the limited edition box that came with the first Tokyo Revelations DVD.

All four characters appear to be evolving in their own certain ways. Sakura for once is portrayed as serious and concerned instead of the cheerful princess she has been for the first two seasons of the anime as well as the movie. Faye, in sharp contrast to how he has been previously is show broody and hiding the left side of his face, a very subtle (or maybe not) clue to what happens during the Tokyo story arc.

Kurogane is shown looking over his shoulder, now no longer trusting his team-mates due to the numerous secrets they're keeping from him and Syaoran looks concerned and suspicious over what's happening around him and to himself. Strangely enough, Mokona is nowhere to be seen though admittedly his presence would lighten the mood of the rather serious shots shown here.

The next shot is a powerful panning shot of almost all the Dragons of Heaven and Earth in Tokyo with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in the background. This is a very nice idea as for a lot of people, this OAV isn't just a chance to watch Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle continue but to also see their favourite X/1999 characters.

The final shot is an animated freeze frame of Syaoran and Sakura in clothes they wear in the story arc after Tokyo Revelations. This is a nice preview of what may come should this OAV sell well. Fingers crossed!
