Having seen the Recort story arc in the anime before reading this volume of the manga, I was really surprised at the pace story went here and by how much was added for the anime episodes.
The volume starts with Yuko pondering over Fay Wang Reed's plans for the Clow Ruins and reveals that Clow Reed actually tapped into their power in the past (something that had only been hinted at previously). Yuko seems very determined to stop Fay Wang Reed though doesn't really act on her motivation.
The majority of the volume then follows Sakura, Syaoran, Kurogane, Fai and Mokona as they track down Sakura's feather which is part of a book in this magical world and come to the realisation that they will in fact have to steal it as a last resort. Once they do so it's non-stop action as they fight off various magical beasts and a truely chilling moment when Kurogane confronts Syaoran having been once more possessed by the other Syaoran.
By the end of the Recort arc, the group dynamic has begun to change quite a bit and this is something that will continue even more so in the following volumes. Kurogane is now the most trustworthy after having his past revealed and Syaoran and Fay are now both increasingly suspicious due to their mysterious pasts and actions.
The story takes a dramatic turn in the final act as the other Syaoran completely awakens and the gang arrive in a world where Tokyo lies in ruin, the majority of the population appear to have been brutally murdered, acid rain falls from the skies and several characters many fans have been waiting for finally make their appearance.
